Union return to Subaru Park for Orlando City matchup

Preview-ORL-050924

Philadelphia Union returns to Subaru Park on Saturday night, hosting Orlando City SC for Foundation Night presented by Penn Medicine. Don't miss the conference clash on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV starting at 7:30PM.

Curtin's squad looks to return to their winning ways in their beloved fortress after dropping two consecutive matches on the riverfront against Western Conference foes. Coming off a draw on the road against D.C., the team is determined to claim another result, this time aiming for the whole three points. The Union will see another change in the lineup this weekend with forward Julian Carranza suspended for the contest due to yellow-card accumulation after he received his fifth of the season in 2024.

Head Coach Oscar Pareja’s squad has had tough start to their 2024 Major League Soccer campaign – as it's been more than three months since their season-opening match, and they’ve only picked up two wins so far.

Similarly to the Union, Orlando City had to balance MLS matches and Concacaf Champions Cup play in the early months of the year, but hey also exited in the second round, defeating Cavalry before being bounced by Tigres. In the regular season, their only wins came against Austin F.C. and D.C. United. They claimed five losses and three draws otherwise, sitting at the bottom of the standings in 14th with nine points, just above New England Revolution with seven.

Despite their lack of results, they’ve seen another strong start from 23-year-old forward Duncan McGuire, who’s scored four of their 11 goals so far this season. His next appearance will be his 50th in all competitions for Orlando City, and in that short span, he’s put himself in the team’s all-time top ten in scoring. He’ll be a player to watch for Jim Curtin’s squad as they look to claim a win at home after leaving their last two matches at Subaru Park without a result.

Orlando enters this weekend match aafter suffering a discouraging 1-0 loss to F.C. Cincinnati that saw defender Rodrigo Schlegel shown a red card in the 23rd minute, leaving him out of this weekend’s contest. The home side will be without an argentinian as well, as Julian Carranza is unable to play due to yellow card accumulation.
