Philadelphia Union Academyâs U13 and U14 squads both took on their respecting PA Classics opponents this past weekend. Both sides came away with big wins in their second week of MLS NEXT action.
The U13 team came out of the gates running and never looked back posting a final score of 10-0. Jamir Johnson led the team netting himself a hat trick, while Gunnar Graham, Peter Doran, and Jordan Griffin each tallied a brace. James Soler rounded out the scoring effort in a game where the Union side was never really challenged.
The U14 squad also came away with a big 4-0 victory in a fairly one-sided match. The Union controlled the game for the full 80 minutes, however they struggled to create chances in the attacking third during the opening half. A spark of energy from the halftime subs helped propel the U14âs to a decided victory. Neil Pierre, Anisse Saidi, LaMonte King, and Jeremy Salazar each found the back of the net, while Daniel Elliot posted another shutout in the Union victory.
The Philadelphia Union Academy U12 team took on Penn Fusion this past weekend and found themselves on the right side of a 5-0 match. Though Penn Fusion provided a challenge early pressing well, the U12âs were able to push past and control the tempo. One player on the squad provided a brace on the day while Willyam Ferreira and Aaron Wesseh each provided one of their own. Penn Fusion also scored an own goal to round out the scoring for the Union.
The U13 and U14 sides will continue league play action next weekend taking on Baltimore Armour on April 17th. Meanwhile the U12âs will return to action April 24th when they face off against Real Jersey FC on the road.
