CHESTER, Pa. (December 5, 2021) – The Philadelphia Union hosted New York City FC on Sunday afternoon at Subaru Park for the Eastern Conference Finals of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, falling 2-1. In the 63rd minute the Union struck first. A ball in from Daniel Gazdag went off the NYCFC defender and into the back of the net to give the Union a 1-0 lead but was equalized by NYCFC midfielder Maximiliano Moralez. In the 88th minute Talles Magno put the visitors ahead 2-1. Despite the loss, the Union achieved their best finish in the MLS Cup Playoffs, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in club history and finishing the regular season as a high enough ranked seed to host all three of their matches in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Today’s match marked the largest crowd in Subaru Park history.
