After guiding the Philadelpia Union to another big victory over the weekend, Head Coach Bradley Carnell has received MLSSoccer.com's Coach of the Matchday honors from the league.
Carnell has guided the Union to the top of the Eastern Conference with back-to-back impressive results that has the Boys in Blue with eight goals scored in two games. The output is the most ever the club has scored in the first two games of a MLS regular season.
The unbeaten start continued in the 2025 home opener where Philadelphia Union knocked off FC Cincinnati by a 4-1 margin. Despite cold and windy conditions, the Union's defensive intensity couldn't be held down. Tai Baribo notched the second hat trick of his Union career in the win and gives the Israeli striker five through the first two games of the Major League Soccer campaign. Baribo opened the scoring just six minutes into the match when he latched on to Kai Wagner’s cross and tapped home his finish for a 1-0 lead. The forward doubled his tally in the 30th minute as Dániel Gazdag feinted in the 18-yard-box and found a wide open Baribo for an easy finish. The duo connected once again after halftime as Gazdag found Baribo at the back post, who stayed onside and completed his hat trick in the 52nd minute.
Philadelphia Union hits the road next weekend for another conference battle, this time against the New England Revolution. Kick off from Gillete Stadium is set for 7:30PM ET on Saturday, March 8th. Don't miss the action over on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
