Cavan Sullivan and Diego Rocio shine in MLS NEXT All-Star game

MLS NEXT All Star | 9

Philadelphia Union Academy players Cavan Sullivan and Diego Rocio put their dominance on full display on Tuesday in the second half of the MLS NEXT’s All-Star game in Columbus, Ohio.

The pair lifted the East to a 4-2 win. When they entered the match, the score was locked at 2-2, and despite an aggressive attack from Rocio who pressured the West with an onslaught of shots, it was Sullivan who emerged the difference maker, scoring a 77th minute penalty kick. After drawing a foul in the box, he lined up to take the shot, burying it past the keeper to take the lead.

Sullivan helped extend the lead again in the 90th minute, assisting FC Cincinnati homegrown Stefan Chirilia for the final goal of the match.

His outstanding performance earned him Man of the Match honors, capping off a momentous week that started with his historic Major League Soccer debut.

After the final whistle, Cavan caught up with Apple TV host and analyst Andrew Wiebe, recapping the match and what comes next for both him personally and his fellow MLS NEXT standouts.
