As part of Philadelphia Union's Greener Goals initiatives, Students from Chester Charter Scholars Academy toured the "Garden for Good at Subaru Park" on Thursday morning.
During their visit they learned about the sustainable benefits of the garden, while the Unionās partner, Hoffman Exterminators, provided an education on bugs that are good for the garden. Students as part of the lesson were able to release bugs into the planters to help the garden. Each student then received a basil plant to take home with them.
The Garden for Good came to fruition at Subaru Park in 2020 as part of an initiative to combat local food insecurity during the pandemic. The garden is maintained by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Subaru employee volunteers and is Chesterās first sustainable and organic garden.
