Philadelphia Union today announced that the club has named Chris Zitterbart as Director of Scouting. In his new role, Zitterbart joins the first team technical staff after serving as the Chief Scout at the Colorado Rapids, playing a key role in finding international players such as Rafael Navarro, Max Alves, Moïse Bombito, and Braian Galván. Zitterbart’s focus will include identifying first team talent in the United States and internationally.
“Chris brings a wealth of experience and a keen eye for talent to our club,” said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. “His track record at Colorado speaks for itself, and we are confident that his expertise will be instrumental in elevating our scouting operations to new heights.”
Prior to joining the Union, Zitterbart spent 11 years at the Colorado Rapids. He began his career as a Team Operations Intern for the Rapids in 2013. He then served as an Equipment Coordinator/Video Analyst from 2013-2015 where he assisted the Team Operations Manager with daily team operations duties, conducted video analysis with players and coaching staff, and managed scouting platforms. Zitterbart was promoted to Scouting Coordinator in 2016, a role he held for two years before advancing to Scouting Manager in 2018. His career progression continued as he took on the role of Director of Scouting in 2021, and finally, he served as the Chief Scout in January 2023.
