When Philadelphia Union take to the pitch against the rival New York Red Bulls, there will be be something unique on the captain's armband that you might notice on PHL17 or PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
As part of the club's celebration of #KickChildhoodCancer Month, the gold armband will have the name of Maddie Harris. Harris has been a part of the Union family when we was selected in 2020 and 2021 as part of the club's Fearless 43 initiative. The Fearless 43 comes from the unfortunate fact that everyday, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer and has seen a loving partnership grow between the Union and Kisses For Kyle.
Through the program both Alejandro Bedoya and homegrown Paxten Aaronson have grown close with the teen who is currently undergoing radiation but continues to stay strong during her cancer journey.
On Wednesday night, Maddie and her entire family were special guests at Subaru Park and following the match was presented with a custom Aaronson KCC Warmup top and the news that the armband would don her name.
