Today's UNIBET Day in Union history goes back a decade to 2011 as Philadelphia Union signed goalkeeper Faryd Mondragón.
While he only played just one season with the Boys in Blue, it was a truly remarkable one as the veteran started the 2011 MLS All-Stars squad that faced Manchester United and finished runner-up for the Goalkeeper of the Year Award. Mondragon made 49 saves in 27 league starts for the Union, limiting opposing offenses to just 1.06 goals per game. That GAA is the best in Union history among keepers that started at least 25 matches.
Along with his historic statistics, Mondragon became the club's second captain during the 2011 campaign.
