Philadelphia Union Academy's trio of representatives at the MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate made the most of their playing time, helping the Eastern Conference rally back from a one-goal deficit to win 2-1.
Goalkeeper Andrew Rick, defender Daniel Krueger and forward Marcos Zambrano-Delgado started the second half of the inaugural showcase event and were quickly involved in the contest on both ends. Trailing by a goal, Rick was strong between the posts with a trio of big saves including a diving stop in the 82nd minute to deny a counter attacking goal. Krueger anchored the back line and kept the team compact when the West held possession to try and kill out the match.
With key plays on the defensive side, the East battled back with an equalizer in the 86th minute with a penalty kick play straight off the training ground. With momentum on their side and the possibility of the match decided by penalty kicks, Zambrano-Delgado timed his run in the 89th minute to finish off a cross from New England's Jack Panayotou to net the winner.
