With preseason getting underway for Philadelphia Union in Clearwater, Florida, now is the time when players are given their numbers for the upcoming season.
With new faces come new numbers, including the debut occurrence of a certain number by the boys in blue:
1: Matt Freese- the rookie becomes the seventh goalkeeper to rep the solo numeral.
15: Olivier Mbaizo- The only returning player from the squad to receive a new number in 2019, Mbaizo will become the fifth No. 15.
20: Sergio Santos- The forward couldn't contain his excitement about getting the No. 20 Union kit, revealing to the world that this year the Union's kit would feature just one color.
22: Brenden Aaronson- Now officially on the roster, the homegrown product is the fourth Union player to don the double two, a number that was open in 2018 after Fafa Picault changed numbers.
31: Carlos Miguel Coronel- The Union's newest keeper will wear No. 31, a number not seen since the 2012-13 season.
78: Aurelien Collin- The veteran center back brought it as preseason training kicked off, Collin becomes the first Union player to wear the 78.
