Philadelphia Union II took on New York City FC II at Belson Stadium on Wednesday night, ending with a 2-1 win. With the win, Union II are now in third place in the Eastern Conference with 34 points. Both sides remained scoreless in the first half despite multiple chances from both sides. In the second half, NYCFC II found their way on the board first when in the 58th minute of play Jonathan Jimenez tapped in a goal after corralling a rebound off a Brooks Thompson save. Philadelphia quickly claimed a goal of their own in the 64th minute, as defender Frank Westfield ran down the sideline and sent in a pinpoint pass to the center of the box for Jose Riasco to send in a header past the keeper. The Union would secure the win in the 86th minute as Westfield sent in another well placed cross, this time with forward Nelson Pierre on the receiving end to send in a left footed shot from the center of the box.
Union II will stay on the road as they travel to face Columbus Crew 2 at Lower.com Field on Saturday, August 27th (5:30 p.m. ET / MLSNEXTPro.com).
