Philadelphia Union II is back at Subaru Park on Sunday afternoon as they host Toronto FC II. Don’t miss the action with MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Marlon LeBlanc’s Union II side look to continue the momentum earned last after taking their first win of the season in an electric comeback game against Chicago Fire FC II. After falling behind early in the first half, Union II battled back in the second half with an aggressive attack that put Chicago on their heels which ultimately ended in back-to-back scoring opportunities. The Boys in Blue finally found the equalizer in the 71st minute with a penalty kick netted by homegrown defender Brandan Craig. Ten minutes later, homegrown forward Nelson Pierre found Union Academy midfielder David Vazquez wide open on the back post for the game winner.
Union II looked dynamic, united, and threatening in every third. Union forward Chris Donovan added a boost to the frontline, stretching Chicago’s fullbacks wide and opening up slotted runs for Pierre. If the Union carry this win into their next match against TFC II and remain consistent in their connectivity, they will surely find success in the remainder of their season.
Toronto FC II head into the matchup in search of their first win of the season falling 2-0 in their home opener last weekend to NYCFC II. The Canadian side finished with just 10 men defender Rohan Goulbourne was sent off and he’ll miss the contest on Sunday afternoon. Like Philly, the Toronto squad is relatively new and young, however veteran forwards Alec Diaz, Jesús Batiz, and Reshaun Walkes will put pressure on the backline.
Gianni Cimini mans the sidelines for TFCII and isn’t afraid to be flexible in his formation with his side playing in both a 4-3-3 and most recently in a 4-4-2 last time out against NYC.
Union II and Toronto FC II face at Subaru Park pitch with kick off set for 2PM ET. Tickets for the match are still available for purchase or you can catch the action with MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
