Philadelphia Union II faced off against Inter Miami CF II, playing to a 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon at Subaru Park.
In the first half, Miami opened the scoring quickly, when winger Lucas Meek slotted in a rebound from close range in the 12th minute. Union II forward Nelson Pierre would have found the equalizing goal in the 27th minute, but the goal was called back due to offsides.
Union II goalkeeper Andrew Rick made three crucial first half saves to keep the score at 1-0 heading into halftime, including a diving stop to keep out a free kick from just outside the box in the 35th minute.
Forward Stefan Stojanovic nearly put Union II level coming out of the half time break, sending a volley just over the crossbar in the 53rd minute. In the 56th minute, midfielder Jeremey Rafanello gave the Union II one of their best looks of the afternoon, striking the crossbar directly from a free kick from outside the box.
Forward Nelson Pierre hammered home a late equalizer from close range in the 87th minute after he was found in the box by forward Luciano Sanchez. Minutes later in second half stoppage time, Miami defender Farid Sar-Sar found the back of the net to claim all three points.
