Ahead of a short Memorial Day break in the schedule, Philadelphia Union’s U13 team made the trip north to New York City FC and came back with a scoreless draw.
While no goals were netted by either side, the Boys in Blue did well against a very challenging and technical opponent in NYCFC. The U13s displayed the club’s high press to regain possession in the opponent’s defensive third of the field but were unlucky to not convert the chances into goals. Gabriel Wesseh and Jamir Johnson led the way for the squad displaying confidence on the ball in the counter attacks when scoring chances were created.
The U13s return to MLS NEXT action on Saturday, June 5th with a road matchup at the Cedar Stars Academy of Monmouth.
