Philadelphia Union Academy U-17 squad concluded their second tournament in as many weeks in Brazil over the weekend, playing five matches against South American competition in the U-17 Iber Cup Elite Porto Alegre.
Under the direction of new head coach Tobias Nubbemeyer, a total of seven players found the back of the net in the competition led by Philadelphia Union II forward Selmir Miscic's three goals. Patrick Bohiu followed closely behind with a pair of goals to anchor the Boys in Blue as they finished in sixth place in the Iber Cup competition.
The U-17s began the competition against Argentinian squad San Lorenzo, battling to a 1-0 victory that was followed up with a 5-0 win against Ec Guarani. After suffering a narrow loss to Coritiba, the Boys in Blue battled back with a 2-0 result against Novo Hamburgo to wrap up their victories.
Up next the U-17s return to action with the second half of GA Cup qualifiers as they travel to Herriman, Utah, on Feb. 15-17 to battle Inter Miami CF, D.C. United and New York Red Bulls.
