Andre Blake
Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake has had a remarkable career with both the Boys in Blue — setting several new milestones and career highs for himself along the way. In 2017, Blake recorded a career-best of nine shutouts, the second most in club history. The Jamaican also set a franchise record for best save percentage in a season at 70 percent and a new career low in goals-against average, recording a 1.31 GAA — the third lowest in club history. Blake currently owns the club’s single-game record with 11 saves, recorded against New England Revolution on Sept. 26, 2015. The 2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year helped secure the club’s first ever wins in Montreal and Columbus. To add to his list of achievements, Blake was also named to the 2016 MLS Best XI and 2017 Goalkeeper of the Year finalist while earning CONCACAF's Gold Cup Golden Glove Award, which is awarded to the tournament's top goalkeeper.
John McCarthy
In 2017, John McCarthy earned eight starts for the Union — going 2-4-2 with one clean sheet on the year and setting a career high in saves with 49. The Philadelphia native also set a new career low with a goals-against average allowed at just 1.63 goals a game last season. He registered his first start of the campaign and set a new single-match career high in saves with six during a draw at Sporting KC on July 6. In his fourth consecutive start, he kept his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Columbus on July 26. McCarthy also made two appearances for the Union in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Jake McGuire
After originally being selected by Houston Dynamo in the Second Round at 30th overall of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, Jake McGuire was waived on March 6, 2017 and signed by the Union on March 10, 2017. McGuire went on to play for Bethlehem Steel FC, making 22 regular-season starts in goal, with five shutouts and one assist. He kept a clean sheet during his first professional appearance against FC Cincinnati on April 9 and notched an assist against Pittsburgh on Sept. 24.
