Philadelphia Union Academy’s oldest clubs continued to have strong performances in MLS NEXT competition, sweeping regional rival PA Classics.
The U17s started off the weekend with an offensive clinic as they racked up a season-high eight goals. Postgame U17 Head Coach Tobias Nubbemeyer called the match a “clear, concise and overall very good performance,” and he was putting it lightly on the offensive pileup. The 8-1 win saw the goals scored by the combination of Caden Grabfelder, Marcello Mazzola, Logan Oliver, Nelson Pierre, and Francis Westfield.
The U15s too walked away with a win, taking down PA Classics by a 2-0 margin to open the league season. Head Coach Ryan Ritcher summed up the performance as a good start to claim three points in the spring opener as Dominic Wilson and Jaden Francis notched the goals.
Both the U15 and U17 teams will hit the road next weekend as they travel south to take on Baltimore Armour.
