A trio of Independence Blue Cross Achievement Unlocks took place at the opening whistle of the 2025 season as Philadelphia Union battled Orlando City SC.
The match saw the first Union start of homegrown defender Frankie Westfield with last year's Union II Vice Captain signing a short-term agreement prior to the match in order to be eligible for selection in the Sunshine State.
The 19-year-old became the 15th player homegrown in club history to make a start and just the 10th to start the season opener. Westfield joins Derrick Jones (2017), Anthony Fontana (2018 and 2021), Auston Trusty (2018 and 2019), Brendan Aaronson (2020), Mark McKenzie (2020), Matt Real (2020), Nathan Harriel (2024), Jack McGlynn (2024), Quinn Sullivan (2024 and 2025).
Westfield went 88 minutes in his MLS debut, registering his first career assist in the second half on Tai Baribo's goal in the 64th minute.
