The Achievement Unlocks keep on rolling for the Philadelphia Union as the club set a new single-season record for goals scored with five more matches to play.
The Boys in Blue entered Wednesday night's match with 57 DOOPs, trailing the 2019 squad that bagged 58. Led by the offensive trio of Julian Carranza, Mikael Uhre and Daniel Gazdag, it was only a matter of time when they'd break the mark and did so in the first half. Carranza tied the club record with a timely finish in the 18th minute. The record was then broken in first-half stoppage with the Union's Danish forward firing a rocket off an Atlanta player and into the back of the net.
11 different players have scored thus far for the Boys in Blue led by Gazdag's record-setting 17 goals with Carranza just behind with 14. Uhre's goal too had him into the double digit marks with 10 while Cory Burke (7) and Alejandro Bedoya (5) have scored multiple times. Paxten Aaronson, Jack Elliott, Nathan Harriel, Jack McGlynn, Matt Real, Sergio Santos and Quinn Sullivan each scored in 2022 as well.
