In the Union's opening match of the 2019 season, some of the Union's offseason work paid off in attacking-half turnovers that became immediate transitions.
Early in the second half, Fafa Picault showed how high pressing can immediately become an offensive chance. After pressing through Chris Mavinga, he creates a turnover and hits the box in a hurry to support a cross from the far side. By moving the ball into transition through a long Haris Medunjanin pass, the Union are able to attack before Toronto can set up their defense.
Even though Picault misses the final shot, this type of work and ball movement will be key as Philly implements their aggressive system going forward.
