When Ilsinho approaches a defender (or two) on the dribble, coming in off the wing toward the box, he looks predatory. Much like a big cat preparing to pounce, there is a coiled energy about the Brazilian as he descends upon his opponents, reading their intentions and waiting for their tell.
New York City’s defense has no answer when Ilsinho strode toward the box in the 76th minute last Saturday night. They were already too deep to come out and challenge him, so they had to face his quick feet in the box and any wrong move meant a likely penalty.
The reason NYC was so deep? The great ball movement and then a great run from Ale Bedoya.
