Named in memory of former Casa Soccer League board member, player, and friend, Shane Kelly, the Kelly Cup is the biggest stage for Philadelphia amateur soccer.
The journey to Talen Energy Stadium officially began on March 16th when seventy-three teams took the field across the city - all with the opportunity of reaching the Kelly Cup Final. Four months later and only two teams remaining, the Philly Soccer community is ready to go for the biggest game of the year. Primera Division stalwarts FC Misconduct and FC SouthHouse come with a mix of team history and a punch young talent who have the potential to provide a spectacular end to a fantastic Spring 2019 season.
FC Misconduct:
No stranger to the Kelly Cup Final and Talen Energy Stadium, FC Misconduct will be making its 10th appearance and going for its 6th title! Co-captain striker Blake Fink – winner of his Casa record 10th Golden Boot Award this season - as well as a midfield filled with Bobby Spracklin, Ian Zolty, and former SouthHouse star Sean Mergenthal are looking to make it three Kelly Cup Final wins in a row vs FC SouthHouse. The defending champs hope that its defense, led by Tyler Bellamy, Brian Palangi, Kyle Miller, Andrew Catalana and last season’s Finals MVP Mike Naylor can hold up in the heat and slow down the tough SouthHouse attack to bring home the cup again.
FC SouthHouse:
FC SouthHouse, though new in name due to a partnership with an awesome local South Philly bar, has been in the league for many years. Formerly Limon y Limon and Playground Social Club, the team was handed to former Penn Track runner John Trueman by Drexel soccer standout Derrec Mongan last year. Made up of players from Colonial SC, Drexel, Indiana U, Bucknell, and St Louis, among others, the boys pride themselves on being a perennially top team in CASA’s Primera Division. Outside of soccer, the lads have many other passions, including long walks with their rescue dogs, good glasses of scotch, and one individual is even working to take his shot at the USA bobsled team!. Always looking fly in their JBMP Group sponsored kits, the gang will put the dogs, scotch, and bobsledding aside for 90+ minutes and focus on turning their second straight finals appearance into a Kelly Cup raise! Come on FC SouthHouse!
Women’s City Championship
Starting in the spring of 2015, the Casa Women’s Division has become the premier women’s soccer division in Philadelphia! The growing ten-team league will wrap up its season 4:00 at the Power Training Complex with a matchup between The KLAMS and Ball Handlers FC in the triple digit heat!
KLAMS:
The KLAMS formed in 2018 and became an instant Philly Soccer sensation! Many members of the team have played together for years, with some founding members even playing in college together. They had natural chemistry from the beginning and were undefeated champs in their first season thanks to the stellar two-way play of Dana Dibruno and Kara Hinkelmon for the goalie-less team! With off-season signee Mary Narozanick and her league leading nine goals against in net, the KLAMS are in the midst of another undefeated season this spring season and are excited to go up against their rivals from the fall championship. The roster is full of players that have had successful college careers at Temple, TCNJ, Rowan, UMBC, Old Dominion, Philly U, Tampa, and Cabrini. Led by Golden Boot winning forward Alicia Kavlunas up top and Lindsay Root on the back line, the KLAMS are ready to defend their championship title!
Ball Handlers FC:
Ball Handlers FC began four years ago as a free agent team made up of unfamiliar faces transplanted to Philadelphia for career moves or extra schooling from up and down the east coast as well as the Midwest. They did not win a game their first season, yet most of them stuck around for the following season...and then the following seasons. At the time, Alex Hunt, Megan Kaminska, Taylor Goss, Maggie Coleman, and Jamie Rauscher started the team with Hunt as the captain. Rachel Valetta was added to the team as a goalkeeper and received the Golden Glove Award this year. Erin Davison has earned multiple Woman of the Match honors while Hannah Bank brought home the Golden Boot (Heel) Award with eight-teen goals! Olivia Rossetti, Shelly Pfeifer, Beth Deegan, and Courtney Novak have been the newest additions to the team that has turned themselves into a perennial contender looking to get raise the cup for the first time!
