Ahead of Philadelphia Union's home contest against Atlanta United FC on Wednesday night, Head Coach Jim Curtin provided an update on the status of the squad.
"Our group has been playing pretty consistently Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday for several weeks and we had a bunch of injuries. I think we navigated the Columbus game fairly well in terms of getting some guys only 45 minutes which is essentially a training session so they'll be fresh. We get a few guys back off of injury; some that are available to start, some available to help us off the bench due to fitness but it will be nice to have a full stable of players to choose from."
"[Jakob, Jose and Leon] are all available for selection tomorrow. Happy to get them all back but we have to decide who is ready to start or come off the bench but outside of Leon, the other two haven't missed a ton game time so they were able to maintain fitness. With Jakob and Leon, it is a matter of pain tolerance and navigating that and being smart. It's not something that all of a sudden they will wake up tomorrow and feel good or something that can heal. We'll explore things in the offseason but right now they are ready to go and make a push down the stretch here in these last three games. Jose picked up a knock with his national team and came back to try and play through it and he had some struggles there. He trained fully today and looked sharp."
