Ahead of Philadelphia Union's home contest against rivals New York Red Bulls on Sunday night, Head Coach Jim Curtin provided an update on the status of the squad.
Leon Flach
“Leon had to some out of the game in [Toronto] which was earlier than we had hoped. I give Leon a ton of credit because he's been playing through a version of a sports hernia and he's had a lot of injections throughout the season and has played through it with a lot of pain. The pain got to a point in the game where it was unbearable for him. He's had scans here in the U.S. and he's going to get a second opinion in Germany but the likelihood is that he will need surgery to repair it because the damage has gotten to the point where it need surgery and time. The quicker we can get that diagnosis and the surgery finalized the hope will be to have him back by the playoffs."
