During his weekly press availability ahead of Philadelphia Union's midweek home match against FC Cincinnati, Head Coach Jim Curtin was asked about the status of forward Cory Burke who has been away on loan.
"I'll just say and dare I say the words in transit, he is about to be in Philadelphia which is the most positive news that I can give in quite some time," Curtin said. "Tonight hopefully but until I see his face I cannot confirm or deny that he is in Philadelphia."
The forward last appeared for the Boys in Blue on April 20, 2019 when he scored against the Montreal Impact at Subaru Park. He was loaned to Jamaican side Portmore United FC for the remainder of the 2019 season in September. During the season Burke scored 11 goals in 20 appearances and he received a national team call-up Concacaf National League matches against Antigua and Barbuda as well as Guyana.
Burke has spent the 2020 season with Austrian Bundesliga club SKN St. Poelten, scoring four goals including a hat trick on June 2 vs. WSG Swarovski Tirol.
