Daily Doop: Adu-Kleberson deal revealed, New York's on the line and Le Toux talks

Sons of Ben fans

So you’ve probably heard the news.
If not, then let us be the first to inform you that the transfer of Freddy Adu to Brazilian club Bahia is official. Many of you have asked over the social media airwaves how this process works.
Well, per league rules and club policy we can’t get into specifics, but we can tell you that Adu and the Union mutually agreed to terminate his contract paving the way for the Union to add Brazilian international, Kleberson.
Kleberson joins the Union on a one-year-loan upon receipt of his United States P-1 visa and his international transfer certificate, or ITC as it’s commonly called.
If you’d like to know more about the Union’s latest player we have you covered.
So that’s it…done and done.
Moving on…
A Saturday showdown lies in wait as the Union is scheduled to hold a short walk through session Friday before heading to Harrison to take on its bitter rival in the New York Red Bulls (3:30 p.m., NBC Sports Network). The Red Bulls are reeling at 0-2-2 and will be without defender Brandon Barklage for this one after he picked up a red card in the 74th minute of a 1-0 loss to Montreal, Saturday. On the flip, the Union is firing on all cylinders coming off a 1-0 win over Mexican League side Pumas UNAM, fueled by a goal from midfielder Michael Farfan.
Speaking of Farfan, Union writer Andy Jasner penned this piece looking at the potential of Farfan and gauging just how high his star will rise.
It’s a good read; we recommend you check it out.
But back to New York as the big question mark surrounds whether or not designated player Thierry Henry will return from his MCL injury. Henry picked up a sprain that kept him out of the match against Montreal, but according to a Red Bulls spokesperson, Henry could be back for the match against the Union. Additionally, Red Bulls will have fellow DP Tim Cahill back, who was away on international duty for FIFA World Cup qualifying with Australia.
We should have much more on New York later in the week, so check back with philadelphiaunion.com for the latest.
As for your Philadelphia Union…
Not that today’s elements would have provided a great training atmosphere, but the Union had a break from official practice today, but many still met for a session with strength and conditioning coach Kevin Miller at the Healthplex in Springfield. Speaking of Miller, the coach will share his thoughts through his own personal blog on our site beginning next Monday. As of now, we are still taking suggestions on a title (heck, even on a working title) so if you have any cool ideas send them to kgabriel@philadelphiaunion.com.
Don’t forget that Sebastien Le Toux will be tomorrow night’s guest on “The 90th Minute” radio show. The show, sponsored by Farmers Insurance will air live once again from Chickies and Pete’s in Northeast Philadelphia (11000 Roosevelt Blvd.) with hosts Carl Cherkin, Chris Albright and this guy.
That’s all for now, but not before we leave you with some words of advice from Union midfielder Danny Cruz:
