Daily Doop: Work it out, Toronto notes and Parke on the radio

Hoppenot shot vs. Columbus

It’s Monday, and the Union took a break away from the training grounds today, but strength and conditioning coach Kevin Miller still had the guys on their grind.
This morning Miller sent out a pair of separate off day workout regimens for the guys who played and didn’t play in Saturday’s 1-1 tie in Columbus. The best part of the email came at the end, almost as an “oh, by the way” moment:
“Get in 50 pull-ups (break these up any way you want) 5 sets of 10, 10 sets of 5, 48 in a row and then 2. I don't care but get in some pull-ups (or push-ups if you can’t find a bar).”
50 pull-ups; we here at philadelphiaunion.com tried that out today inside the workout room at the stadium (in business casual attire, mind you.)
We tried to tackle 48 in a row plus two…and yeah…we weren’t successful.
Speaking of Miller, we got the fitness guru to write a blog that will run every Monday on the website entitled “Goal Oriented.” In it, Miller will share his tips and tricks and insider knowledge of how to get the most out of your body, by doing the right things to it. In his first installment, Miller talks about performance goals and how to achieve them.
It is great stuff; hope you all check it out.
Moving on…
The team is back on the training ground tomorrow against Toronto (4 p.m., purchase tickets) for what will be Autism Awareness Night at PPL Park. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a rally towel.  In addition, it will also be Dollar Dog Night at the stadium. And temperatures are supposed to hover around the mid-50s.
Toronto enters PPL Park off a tie as well, a 2-2 stalemate at home to FC Dallas over the weekend. Look for Union writer Kevin Kinkead’s full breakdown of the series history between the Union and Toronto, but for now, Kinkead provided this via Twtter earlier today:

Kinkead also had this interesting statistic. The Union’s most commanding victory and most devastating loss both arrived in matches against the Union’s Eastern Conference foe.
Tomorrow, Union defender Jeff Parke will be the special guest on “The 90th Minute” radio program. The show sponsored by Farmers Insurance will again air LIVE from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Chickies and Pete’s in Northeast Philadelphia (11000 Roosevelt Blvd.) and will feature host Carl Cherkin and special guest host Peter Pappas. Got a question for Jeff? Leave it below in the comments with the hashtag #radioquestion and your question could be answered by Jeff himself. That’s all we have for today, should have a lot more to dispense as the team resumes training tomorrow.
Until then…
