Before the calendar turns to next season, we’re already looking ahead with Major League Soccer announcing the 2022 MLS Schedule on Wednesday afternoon. Philadelphia Union will host 17 regular season matches at Subaru Park in 2022 and we’ve compiled the Top Five matches you’ll want to get tickets to today!
Philadelphia Union vs. New York Red Bulls (Saturday, May 14)
With the season kicking off at the end of February, the Union will be 11 games into the season and into form when the latest chapter of the rivalry is renewed in May. The Union have owned the series dating back to 2019, with the Boys in Blue emerging victorious six times in the previous nine.
Subaru Park was the site of the last matchup with the two sides going 120 minutes once again in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Like in 2019, the Union advanced with heroics courtesy of Jakob Glesnes’ fan-assist golazo.
The rivalry is always filled with gritty, direct soccer that always feels like a one-goal game. Players become icons with Ilsinho, Alejandro Bedoya and Jakob Glesnes just the latest to own the series. You won’t want to miss it so get your tickets today.
Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC (Sunday, June 26)
Subaru Park hosts a redo of the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals in late June with a Sunday clash between the Union and NYCFC that will be broadcast nationally on FS1. While it won’t be the first time the two sides face off with the inaugural matchup taking place at Yankee Stadium in March, the defending MLS Cup champs will be in for quite a crowd in June.
During the offseason this match will be circled on calendars both by fans and players just as the Union’s matchups against the Revs were in 2021. Tickets will probably go very fast for this rematch so snag them while they’re available.
Philadelphia Union vs. D.C. United (Friday, July 8)
Another rivalry showdown that will be broadcast coast to coast as ESPN showcases the Union’s battle with D.C. United in early July. Subaru Park and the Union faithful have been a house of horrors for DC, with the Union taking all three points at home dating back to 2014!
D.C. United took huge strides last season and should continue to progress in year two under Hernán Losada. Meanwhile the Union core will look to remain perfect against their I-95 rival so be sure you’re there for it with tickets.
Philadelphia Union vs. Colorado Rapids (Saturday, August 27)
Familiar faces return to Subaru Park as the Union host the regular season champions of the Western Conference in August. The Rapids are one of four Western Conference teams to come East in 2022 but the Rapids match up is one that Union fans won’t want to miss.
The match should see the return to Chester for defenders Keegan Rosenberry and Auston Trusty who were fan favorites during their time with the Union. On the pitch, it will feature two similar philosophies that stress team success and collective defending. Tickets for that match are available for purchase by clicking here.
Philadelphia Union vs. Atlanta United FC (Wednesday, August 31)
It wouldn’t a proper list of matches to catch in Chester without the Union’s annual showdown against Atlanta United. When the two sides battle you can count on two things: Hard tackles and memorable goals. The two sides won’t cross paths until the regular season is fully in playoff mode with the match at Subaru Park the first of two battles that will take place within a three-week span.
Be sure to secure your seat at Subaru Park for this midweek matchup now!
