After another historic performance over the weekend, Philadelphia Union racked up another pair of MLS Team of the Week accolades with Daniel Gazdag and Kai Wagner representing the Boys in Blue.
Gazdag scored the first hat trick of his professional career on Saturday night, bagging a brace within the first 20 minutes of the match before completing the hat trick in the 83rd minute with a smooth finish. The goals were important ones as the Hungarian tied the club's single-season scoring mark set by C.J. Sapong in 2017 to reach 16 for the season.
Wagner earned his third TOTW appearance of 2022 leading the Boys in Blue to a 12th clean sheet of the season. On the offensive side, Wagner led the team with five chances created and helped the Boys in Blue make MLS history on the final goal of the match. Wagner sprung a counter attack and laid off a pass to Matt Real to reach the 6-0 scoreline. The result gave the Union their fourth win by at least six goals, setting a new MLS all-time record for a franchise. Even more impressively. all four of the Union's blowout wins have come in 2022!
The Boys in Blue wrap up August on Wednesday night with an Eastern Conference battle against Atlanta United FC.
