After setting extending Philadelphia Union's home winning streak to a club record six straight matches, Ilsinho and Mark McKenzie have been named to the MLS Team of the Week.
Making just in second start of the season, Ilsinho was key in both of the Union's goals in the 2-1 win over the Montreal Impact. The Brazilian playmaker registered two assists for the first time in his career and became the second player in Union history to score 20 goals and notch 20 assists, joining Ring of Honor legend Sebastien Le Toux. Ilsinho's first assist came in the 39th minute with a perfectly weighted ball into the box that connected with Jamiro Monteiro for the 1-0 lead. It was a Brazilian duo connection early in the second half as he delivered a cross to Sergio Santos for the tap-in goal that proved to be the game winner. Ilsinho ranks No. 4 in Union history in both goals and assists now.
On the other end of the pitch, homegrown defender Mark McKenzie once again put in a strong shift to help the Union undefeated at Subaru Park. McKenzie won 75% of his duels while racking up three interceptions, three clearances and a pair of tackles. McKenzie joins teammate Kacper Przybylko for the team lead with three appearances on the MLS Team of the Week honors.
Philly is back in action on Wednesday, October 14th, when they travel to D.C. United for a midweek showdown at 8:00 p.m. ET on PHL17 and PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
