Philadelphia Union defender Jack Elliott has had a strong start to his sophomore campaign in MLS.
The second-year man out of West Virginia has racked up the accolades this season earning MLS Team of the Week selections twice already. Now Elliott has yet another accolade to his name.
The 22-year-old defender has been awarded Philadelphia Union’s Save of the Month after his superb defensive work against Orlando City SC at Talen Energy Stadium on April 13.
While Orlando was on the attack, the Union defense had to shuffle around in the box. With MLS All-Star Goalkeeper Andre Blake shifted to his left, the shot attempt was fired to the right bottom corner.
Luckily for the Union, Elliott was positioned in the perfect spot and made a reactive move to clear the attempt on the goal line and keep Orlando from scoring in that instance.
Although it is rare, the center back has been awarded the club’s honor of Save of the Month. Elliott and the Union will return to MLS action on Friday when they take on Toronto FC at BMO Field in Canada with kick off set for 8 p.m. ET on PHL17.
