After meeting six times in 2020, Philadelphia Union hosts the New England Revolution for a midweek tilt at Subaru Park on Wednesday, May 12th. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with television coverage on PHL17. Fans will also be able to view the match on PhiladelphiaUnion.com or can click here to listen to the FOX The Gambler broadcast which is available via 102.5 FM, 104.5 HD2, the iHeart App and 1480 AM.
The Boys in Blue enter Wednesday night’s contest coming off a 2-0 road win at Chicago Fire FC that saw the Union collect their first three MLS points of the season. After a scoreless first half that saw homegrown Jack McGlynn denied his first career goal twice in his first MLS start, Cory Burke and Jakob Glesnes notched goals in a nine-minute span to put the game away.
Philadelphia Union has owned New England Revolution in regular-season play, having not lost to the Revs since July 2017. You have to go back even further to 2015 to find the last time New England left Chester, PA., with points for the MLS standings. Despite the strong form, the Union are still looking for revenge as the Supporters’ Shield winners were bounced out of the MLS Cup Playoffs by Bruce Arena’s side by a 2-0 margin.
New England enters the match near the top of the Eastern Conference with a 2-1-1 record. The Revs played last weekend which ended with a 2-0 defeat to Nashville SC. The Revolution return the bulk of their 2020 squad with Gustavo Bou, Adam Buksa and Carles Gil each with a goal to their names early in the season.
