Philadelphia Union return to Subaru Park looking to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League on Wednesday night. The 8 p.m. ET match will be broadcast nationally on FS1 as well as online through TUDN EN VIVO.

The Boys in Blue are ahead thanks to a very important road goal from Kacper Pryzybylko in the 34th minute of play. The forward headed home the first official goal of the new calendar year for the Union after a perfectly weighted cross from Olivier Mbaizo.

The second half saw Deportivo Saprissa battle back into the contest but the Purple Monsters saw their winless streak continue and tie the longest in club history at eight-straight matches. Countless attacks forward came over the final 15 minutes as the Union battled fatigue but they showed that Philly grit, giving their bodies (literally) to bring home the 1-0 lead.

Over the weekend Saprissa faced off at home against A.D. Municipal Pérez Zeledón and saw their winless set the club record with a 1-1 draw. After a scoreless first half, Saprissa was on the wrong end of a foul inside the box that saw the visitors take a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute. Saprissa battled back however with an equalizing goal in the 60th minute by Jeiner Steven Ballestero.

Deportivo Saprissa announced Saturday night that club will be without two players and a member of the technical staff after positive COVID-19 results required by Concacaf.

“Deportivo Saprissa has informed that, after completing the viral tests required by Concacaf, before Wednesday's on April 14th between Philadelphia Union and Saprissa, it has been concluded that two players and one member of the technical staff have given positive Covid-19 results.

In accordance with the Ministry of Health, under the supervision of the Medical Commission of Unafut and in accordance with the guidelines of Concacaf, the people infected began their quarantine period this Friday, April 9th, until the 24th of the same month.

Deportivo Saprissa will maintain constant monitoring of the three positive cases and will reiterate it's commitment to adhere to the protocols and guidelines from the health authorities.”
