Philadelphia Union Announce 2023 Preseason Schedule

CHESTER, Pa. (January 5, 2023) – Ahead of its 14th season in Major League Soccer, Philadelphia Union today announced their 2023 preseason schedule. The team will train in-market before returning to the club’s preseason base in Clearwater, Florida, where they will play in seven scheduled scrimmages. The Union enter the new season after becoming the 2022 Eastern Conference Champions and making it to the MLS Cup Final for the first time in club history.

The Union kick-off preseason beginning on Monday, Jan. 9, following medical clearances and physicals. Following a week of in-market training, the team will return to Clearwater, Fla., for their ninth season on Monday, January 16.

“We’re thrilled to return to the beautiful city of Clearwater and continue our partnership with Visit St. Pete/Clearwater,” said Philadelphia Union President, Tim McDermott. “Clearwater has been our team’s preseason base for nine consecutive years, and we look forward to returning as the team prepares for one of their busiest and most exciting seasons yet.”

During their annual preseason trip, the club will participate in a total of seven preseason matches: Saturday, January 21 at 12:00 p.m. ET vs. Austin FC (IMG Academy); Tuesday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m. ET vs. ST. Louis CITY SC (Florida Gulf Coast University, Ft. Myers); Friday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. ET vs. Minnesota United FC (University of Central Florida, Orlando); Sunday, February 5 at 12:00 p.m. ET vs. New England Revolution (Premier Sports Campus); Friday, February 10 at 12:00 p.m. ET vs. FC Cincinnati (Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex); Tuesday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. ET vs. Nashville SC (Al Lang Stadium); Saturday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. ET vs. Colorado Rapids (ChampionsGate Sports Complex).

Following their final preseason friendly on February 18, the Union will then return to Philadelphia to complete their preseason training ahead of their 2023 regular season home opener against Columbus Crew on February 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

All matches will be closed door matches, except for the Union’s match against FC Cincinnati at Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex on Friday, February 10 at 12:00 p.m., which will be open to the public.
