Last week, students from Chester Charter Scholars Academy grades 7-12th, including scholars in our Aspire Program, arrived at Neumann University to hear Jimmy White IV speak. As part of the Philadelphia Union Foundation’s iAM Project, the goal of the Inspirational Speaker Series is to promote a growth mindset in young students and encourage them to look beyond their immediate environment. Jimmy White IV is a national award-winning youth/veteran advocate, a TEDx speaker, a Leadership Philadelphia alumnus, and GW Bush Center Presidential scholar. The South Philly native described his experiences overcoming adversity and offered personal and professional advice to students while sharing words of encouragement.Â
Philadelphia Union Foundation announced the iAM Project back in December in partnership with BIMBO Bakeries, Lincoln Financial Group, Global Neurosciences Institute, Neumann University, and the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation. The iAM Project leverages a network of inspirational speakers, academic and professional mentors, innovative links to industry, universities and internship providers to provide multi-year training and opportunities. The program focuses on three core pillars: inspiration, aspiration, and mentorship.
