Philadelphia Union Academy U15’s trip to the MLS Academy Cup in Atlanta saw the Boys in Blue dominate the competition with a perfect 3-0 record against other MLS Academies.
Playing over Memorial Day weekend, the Boys in Blue started off with a dominating 4-2 win over Inter Miami CF on Friday afternoon. The U15s dominated the second half of the contest creating chance after chance to start the tournament on the right foot. Gael Medrano led the way with a brace while Alex Perez and Jaden Francis accounted for the Union’s four goals.
The following day saw a thriller for the U15s making a late comeback to defeat the LA Galaxy. Luke Zielinski put the Union ahead in the first half but the Galaxy fought back with a pair of goals and turned to a defensive block to see out the contest. Trailing by a 2-1 margin with just 10 minutes left until the final whistle, the U15s battled back with back-to-back goals from Dominic Wilson and Alex Perez to claim a 3-2 victory.
The Boys in Blue saved their best performance for last against what Head Coach Ryan Richter called the toughest game of the tournament against hosts Atlanta United FC. The Union were up for the challenge with Jaden Francis bagging a brace in the 4-2 win. Antonio Horozoglou and Henry Bernstein too added goals as the squad claimed all nine points.
