After securing the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 4-0 victory over Toronto FC on Decision Day, the Philadelphia Union will host the Eastern Conference Semifinal at Subaru Park on Thursday, October 20th. New York Red Bulls are in the postseason for the 13th consecutive season after finishing 15-11-8 in the regular season led by an impressive 9-5-3 record on the road which helped them secure the No. 4 seed. The Union and their biggest rivals squared off twice in the regular season with the Union going unbeaten in the series. After battling to a scoreless draw at Subaru Park in May, the Union went to New Jersey and nabbed a 2-0 win behind goals from Mikael Uhre and Daniel Gazdag.
FC Cincinnati finished the regular season 12-9-13 this season to grab the No. 5 seed in the East. The two sides battled twice in the 2022 regular season with the first matchup seeing a 1-1 result at Subaru Park in June. In August the Ohio side picked up their first-ever win against the Union via a 3-1 result. Cincinnati is coached by former Union assistant coach Pat Noonan.
