After a career that spanned nearly two decades, Steven Gerrard has finally hung up his boots for good as he announced his retirement from soccer over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Gerrard, who played the last two seasons with LA Galaxy, is one of the most accomplished players of his time. Prior to his MLS career, Gerrard was a fixture for Liverpool F.C. and during his 17 year career with the club he recorded 180 goals in 695 appearances.
The impact Gerrard made on the game can be seen far and wide and after the news of his retirement was announced, members of the Philadelphia Union expressed their best wishes to the outgoing midfielder.
