Ray Gaddis ties club record for appearances

When Philadelphia Union defender Ray Gaddis took to the pitch Sunday evening in Atlanta, Georgia, he took another step closer to yet another club record.

Already the owner for most starts in Union history with 165 and minutes played (14,716), Gaddis tied Sebastien Le Toux with 175 regular-season appearances. For Gaddis, reaching the landmark achievement is simply all thanks to his faith.

"It says a lot more about God and how great he is to give me the opportunity to play in such a great place like Philadelphia," Gaddis said following the Union's 1-1 draw against Atlanta United FC. "I've been here my whole career and it has been a blessing seeing so many things transpire with this club."

Gaddis looks to surpass Le Toux this weekend when the Union hosts Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, March 23, at Talen Energy Stadium. Should the defender appear, it would be a fitting moment for the Indianapolis, Indiana native. Drafted 35th overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft by the Union, he made his debut on April 14, 2012, against Columbus Crew.
