Reasons to Watch: Wooten, streaming, chasing records

R2W_713

This match’s Reasons to Watch has been renamed — Welcome to Reasons to Woot!

Woot-Woot

Andrew Wooten is eligible to play this weekend, and Union fans are likely to get their first sight of the man that knocked home 17 goals in Germany last season when Philly travels to take on Real Salt Lake on Saturday night. A big, strong striker with a finishing touch, Wooten will immediately push Fafa Picault and Kacper Przybylko for time up top.

Record setter

If the Union win on Saturday night, they will guarantee that next week will mark the club’s longest spell in first place in history. In 2016, Philly spent 44 days atop the Eastern Conference, and they are closing in on that record now. The 2016 side was defensively stout but struggled to put the ball in the net. Not the case in 2019, where a collection of players, including Przybylko, who will be aiming for double-digits in Salt Lake City, have turned Jim Curtin’s side into one of the top scoring units in MLS.
