It's been two weeks since soccer was back at Talen Energy Stadium but Round One of the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs is around the corner as Philadelphia Union host New York Red Bulls on Sunday, October 20th. Kick off is set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on FS1.
Since it's the playoffs, it's time for match predictions which feature the experts from MLSSoccer.com as well as a few others that have made their picks which you can find below:
Matthew Doyle: The Union have just been better than the Red Bulls this year. Time for their first postseason dub.
Bobby Warshaw: RBNY, because BWP scoring the game-winner in a playoff game would be good for the soul.
Susannah Collins: This one is tough but I’m picking Philly because it feels like it’s their time to make some noise in the playoffs and I simply don’t trust the Red Bulls in the post-season, sorry.
Calen Carr: The Union stretch the field better than any team in the Eastern conference, which RBNY has not dealt with well lately (see last MTL match).
Tom Bogert: The Red Bulls — a team the Union have struggled with over the years — is a sneaky tough matchup for the Union, but with Bedoya and Przybylko fully healthy, the Union should get it done.
Ben Baer: Red Bulls have gritted out a lot of points this year but that will end here.
Jonathan Tannenwald:New York. The Union needed a miracle comeback to beat the Red Bulls in Chester, and New York was dominant at Red Bull Arena last month. Both teams play a similar style, and as I wrote after the game at Red Bull Arena, New York plays it better. I won’t be surprised if the Red Bulls do it again Sunday.
