Five Fast Facts on Union signee Jose Martinez

El Brujo Martinez is Philadelphia Union's newest midfield option. Here are a few facts about the young Venezuelan.

• Martinez is 25 years old and when he arrives in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia Union will be his first club outside of his home country of Venezuela.
• At 5'9" and 152 pounds, Martinez packs a lot of promising talent as one of top up-and-coming players in the Venezuelan Primera División.
• Nicknamed "el Brujo" which translates to The Wizard; his primary role will be to slow down opposing attacks, but Martinez possesses the ability to spark a transition with timely passes after making a defensive stop.
• Comes to Philadelphia after making 65 appearances over the past two years with Venezuelan club Zulia FC. During his time with the club, Martinez scored two goals and collected four assists. He aided the club in their best finish in the 2019 Copa Sudamericana while helping win the 2018 Copa Venezuela.
• Has received a call-up with the Venezuelan National Team but is still looking for his first senior team appearance.
