MLS Fantasy is back for 2020, giving you more reason to get excited for the upcoming season. Signing up is easy and allows you to not only earn bragging rights against your friends and family but also can get you some cool prizes. With Philadelphia Union's season kicking off next weekend at FC Dallas on Saturday, February 29th, here are some Boys in Blue to consider for your fantasy squad. Keep in mind for roster rules, you can only have THREE players from a single MLS team on your squad (starting XI and bench).
Andre Blake (#10 in MLS; $5.5)
The expectations for Dre have always been high and while 2019 wasn't what Union fans were used to, it just shows the high bar that Blake has put upon himself as the club's No. 1 keeper. Don't expect the Reggae Boyz captain to have similar numbers in 2020 and his ability to still make huge saves has already been on display in preseason coming against Inter Miami CF. For $5.5 against your salary cap, Blake gives you the opportunity to rack up points and save salary cap space which is why he comes in at No. 10 in MLSSoccer.com's goalkeeper fantasy preview.
Jack Elliott (#15 in MLS; $6.0)
With defenders in your starting XI the thing you look for is who will be in the starting XI consistently. With Mark McKenzie expected to miss time with the United States in their run up to Tokyo Olympics, Elliott should be a solid starter in the Union backline. Fantasy defenders also need to have the chance to score and Elliott has done the quite a bit the past few years but also can rack up points for blocks (every two gets you a point) and tackles. Elliott ranks No. 15 in MLSSoccer.com's defender preview and he could very well finish top 10 in fantasy like he did last season with 163 points.
Jamiro Monteiro (#26 in MLS; $8.5)
One of the more expensive players in fantasy soccer from the Union, Monteiro is the newest designated player and is wearing the No. 10 kit. In 26 appearances for the Union he racked up 159 points which was just one point behind leading scorer Kacper Przybylko. Monteiro's role is expected to increase in 2020 and his value seems pretty low right now when you factor in his ability to collect points both in the attack and defense. Kacper Przybylko (#17 in MLS; $10.0)
The Union's leading goalscorer is the club's most expensive player in 2020 MLS Fantasy has had a solid preseason so far and the chemistry is growing with fellow striker Sergio Santos. The Friendly Striker partnered with a speedy froward could see not only scoring chances for Przybylko but an increase in assists.
