The Philadelphia Union were the first team in the MLS is Back Tournament to learn their Quarterfinal opponent overnight with the results netting the club a matchup against the Sporting Kansas City.
The Union will face off against the Western Conference foe after defeating New England Revolution 1-0 while Kansas City advanced on penalty kicks against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
In Group Stage play the Union claimed seven points in their three matches of the group stage with wins over New York City FC and Inter Miami before a 1-1 draw with Orlando City SC. Meanwhile Kansas City topped Group D with six points after defeating Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids but did open the tournament with a loss to Minnesota United.
The MLS is Back Tournament Knockout match presented by Audi will see the two sides battle it out on Thursday, July 30th and will be broadcast on ESPN. Kick off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
