Normally when Kacper Przybylko makes the MLS Team of the Week, it's because of the striker's goalscoring abilities that are well documented since he took to the pitch for Philadelphia Union. However Przybylko's appearance for the third time in 2020 is different as it was his playmaking abilities that landed him on the league's weekly honors.
After helping the squad to a clean sheet and a point on the road in Cincinnati, Przybylko collected two assists in the club's 3-0 win over Inter Miami CF on Sunday night. With defenses focused on shutting down the club's fourth all-time leading scorer, the forward trusted his teammates to find the back of the net and they delivered. In the opening half, he found on fire homegrown Anthony Fontana for his fourth goal of the season. Fontana's goal also saw him earn the bench for the Team of the Week as a result.
With the club needing an insurance goal, Przybylko could have tried for the 2-0 lead himself but instead threaded a pass to Ilsinho inside the six for the tap in finish.
Kacper Przybylko knows it takes the whole team playing well to get him chances to score. And when he misses those chances, the big striker can get visibly upset.
With six goals since the regular season restarted and now three assists, there are few players in the league keeping pace with Przybylko as he continues to lead the line for the second place team in the Supporters’ Shield race.
