CHESTER, Pa. (March 27, 2022) – Philadelphia Union II began play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 2-0 victory against FC Cincinnati 2 on Sunday afternoon at Subaru Park. Union II opened up the scoring in the fourth minute with Carlos Paternina scoring the club’s first goal in the new league with forward Chris Donovan getting his first professional assist. Philadelphia Union midfielder Jesus Bueno doubled the lead in the 58th minute with an assist by MLS-teammate Cole Turner. Captain Matt Freese recorded his first clean sheet of the season. The group of Nathan Nkanji, Jackson Gilman, Boubacar Diallo, Jesus Bueno, Carlos Paternina, Chris Donovan, and Stefan Stojanovic made their Union II debuts today with their starts.
