For the third time in 2024, Philadelphia Union Academy graduate forward Eddy Davis III has been selected as the MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of the Month!
On Thursday afternoon, the league announced the accolade for the 18-year-old forward whose has a record-breaking season and led Union II to the top of the Eastern Conference heading into MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day. Davis a new single-season scoring record in September, scoring his 12th goal of the season against Inter Miami CF II on September 15th. The goal saw the forward surpass former Bethlehem Steel FC and current Marseille forward Faris Moumbagna for the most goals scored for the second team in a single season.
Davis then expanded the record with the game-tying goal in the second half against New York City FC II that erased a two-goal deficit. Union II would ultimatly clinch not only their third consecutive trip to the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs but also their first-ever home playoff match. Davis rounded out the month with an assist on Cavan Sullivan's game-tying goal against Atlanta United 2 that saw the Boys in Blue take over the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference with one match to go.
Union II concludes its 2024 MLS NEXT Pro regular season with the hopes of claiming the top seed in the East when they battle Chicago Fire II on the road. Kick off from the Windy City is set for 1PM with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
