CHESTER, Pa. (March 28, 2023) – Philadelphia Union II announced today that they have signed defender Hugo Le Guennec to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. The 23-year-old French-born center-back will be added to Union II’s active roster pending receipt of his P1-Visa and will occupy an international roster slot.

Le Guennec, 23, appeared in 48 matches (46 starts) in his four years at Rutgers University. During his time as a Scarlet Knight, Hugo's performances on the field have earned him several accolades, including being named to the 2019 Big Ten All-Freshman team, a selection to the 2022 Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, and an All-Big Ten Second Team pick. He was also honored as the Defensive Player of the Big Ten Tournament in 2022 and named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team.
