CHESTER, Pa. (March 15, 2023) – Philadelphia Union II announced today that they have extended the loan for midfielder Maike Villero from Deportivo La Guaira F.C. through the end of the 2023 season.
“Maike's transition into our team from overseas was a gradual process, but with persistence and dedication he has become a valuable asset to us,” said Union Director of Academy and Professional Development, Tommy Wilson. “We anticipate an exciting season for him, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow and realize his potential.”
Union II acquired Villero on loan from Deportivo La Guaira F.C. on March 9, 2022. The 22-year-old has made four starts in nine overall appearances, tallying 391 minutes. He earned his first MLS NEXT Pro assist in a 6-1 victory over Orlando on Sept. 11, 2022.
TRANSACTION: Philadelphia Union II extends the loan of Maike Villero from Deportivo La Guaira F.C. through the end of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season, and maintains a purchase option upon completion of the loan, on March 15, 2023.
